We’re constantly developing finScribe to better support anglers of all kinds — from sea fishers to freshwater explorers.
Thanks to the feedback and ideas from our community and the hard work of our app developers, we’re excited to share the new features launching in Summer 2025.
Here's what's on the horizon:
✨ Improved Look & Feel
Tweaks to the interface that make finScribe easier to navigate and more enjoyable to use.
🔍 Species Search
Quickly search the list of fish species when planning trips or logging catches — no more endless scrolling!
🏷️ Catch Tagging & Filtering
Organise your logs your way. Add custom tags and filter and view your records by season, species, bait type, location, and more.
NB. finScribe Free users will be limited to 3 tags, Premium users 10 and Premium+ unlimited
🌊 Tidal Data (Premium & Premium+ only)
One of the most requested features — especially from our sea angling users!
See live tidal data when planning trips or logging catches, including:
- Current tide state and height
- Last and next high/low tides
- Distance to the nearest tide collection point (when logging)
And don’t worry — tidal data is completely optional, with an easy on/off toggle on the home page and in your settings.
🌙 Lunar Data (Premium & Premium+ only)
Every log will now automatically record the moon phase and lunar data, giving you even more context for your fishing trips.
🎣 Blank Records (Premium & Premium+ only)
Sometimes you don’t catch anything — and that’s okay. Now you can add a “blank” session log to remember the experience, the effort, and what you learned.
📋 Session Summaries (Premium & Premium+ only)
For days when the fish won’t stop biting! Add a session summary to group multiple catches under one fishing trip.
🖼️ High-Resolution, Interactive Images (Premium & Premium+ only)
Photos in your logs are getting a serious upgrade:
- Double the resolution
- Zoom and pan to see every detail of your catch
